Contemplating a winter vacation? Come with us ‘south of the border’ for a revelatory exploration of instruments in Mexico City, Guanajuato, Tlaxcala, Ocotlan, Queretaro, Huamantla and other colorful destinations.

Join hosts Michael Barone (of American Public Media’s PIPEDREAMS) and Edward Pepe (co-founder of the Westfield Center for Early Keyboard Studies and the Instituto de Órganos Históricos de Oaxaca) for a journey of discovery into the history of the earliest pipe organs build in the Americas.

You’ll see a monumental pair of ornately decorated organs in the Mexico City Cathedral, with dramatic horizontal trumpets, and other instruments with carved and painted casework so ornate as to almost make music for your eyes.

Hear and play works of the ancient Hispanic masters on instruments which speak their language. Experience a 12,000 heritage in one of the world’s mega-metropolis, and balance that with bucolic reflections in remote villages.
