Mailbag: “Wurlitzer Prize”

Dear Michael,

Firstly, thank you so much for providing me with such wonderful music. I am the organ scholar at my local parish church (which has a beautiful Henry Willis pipe organ dating from 1929) and I would like to know more about the Wurlitzer pipe organ. My organ teacher currently has a 2 manual, 3 rank Wurlitzer (original!) set up in her home and I have played it many times. However, could you please, if possible, give me some more information about larger Wurlitzers and their designs, rank lists etc.

Great to hear from you. I have a feeling that a lot of UK folk listen to PIPEDREAMS online.
As for the Wurlitzer, your best source for theater organ information is the American Theatre Organ Society. Their Theatre Organ History pages are packed with information. Check it out!
