Danish recitalist Bine Bryndorf provides an in-depth assessment of the greatest organ composer before Bach, Dieterich Buxtehude, with performances of a wide variety of his own compositions, plus works by his teacher Heinrich Scheidemann and his ‘followers’ Nicolaus Bruhns and Johann Sebastian Bach.

Featured instruments include the 1554 Hermann Raphaelis organ in the Cathedral at Roskile, Denmark; the 1693 Arp Schnitger organ at the St. Jacobi Church in Hamburg, Germany; the 1739 Joachim Wagner organ at Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim, Norway; and the 1997 Marcussen organ at Buxtehude’s Church of St. Mary’s in Elsinore, Denmark. Recordings are drawn from the catalogues of DaCapo and Hänssler Classics labels.

Ms. Bryndorf will present concerts and workshops in Minneapolis/St. Paul (April 6/7), in Rochester, NY (April 8/9/10), and at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY (April 13/14).
