Mailbag: “Flentrop Orgelbouw”

Dear Michael,

Will the Flentrop Orgelbouw Organ Company, Inc., Zandaam, Netherlands convert their electro-pneumatic combination systems on their large classic-mechanical pipe organs anytime now and in the future? I am asking out of curiosity, Mr Barone.

Dear Granville,

Many of Flentrop's 'large classic-0mechanical' pipe organs came with no combination action at all (Holy Names Cathedral, Chicago, for instance). Others, such as St. Mark's Cathedral, Seattle, did have combination actions, though I do not think that the Fritts upgrade did anything to change it.
