Celebrating the pipe organ, the King of Instruments |
January 24, 2011
Dear Michael,
William Chappell, in his 1859 "Popular Music of the Olden Time" writes, "The tune of 'Down Among the Dead Men' was a great favorite with the late Samuel Wesley, who used constantly to fugue upon it."
Fun to hear it -- one of the great minor tunes -- on the organ, on the air..!

Dale,
I've got to admit, yours is one of the more obscure, and best referenced, appreciative comments I've received. Good on you for attentive listening (online, I am guessing, right?)!
