Celebrating the pipe organ, the King of Instruments |
October 25, 2009
Dear Michael,
Some months ago you interviewed a young organist who was still in his 20s and said he has been described as the "Horowitz of the Organ" because of his fantastic technique. I believe you played his recording of Stars and Stripes Forever and remarked that he played the piccolo part on the organ pedals! Anyway I have searched hi and low for "Horowitz of the Organ" and have turned up Virgil Fox and a lady organist, but not the artist who was featured on that program. Who was he?

Steve,
That program aired more than a year ago...the soloist was the always remarkable Cameron Carpenter: http://www.cameroncarpenter.com/
Just heard him in recital in Philadelphia last Sunday. He's quite amazing.
Do you realize that you can go to the PIPEDREAMS website and look through past programs....(and listen to them again, too!).
