Celebrating the pipe organ, the King of Instruments |
April 6, 2009
Dear Michael,
I was listening to the March 23rd program featuring the new Schoennstein installation at the Symphony Center in Tennessee and opened the link to the Diapason article about that instrument. It mentions a new rank called a 'Diplophone', and says nothing about it afterwards. I have no idea what this is; none of my slightly-more-in-the-know friends do, either. We were wondering if Pipedreams had any insight.
Morgan
Morgan,
I believe that it is a high-pressure diapason-style pipe with two mouths (like a Doppel-Flute, except a diapason).
