Celebrating the pipe organ, the King of Instruments |
March 7, 2008
Dear Michael,
Michael Barone of Pipedreams or anyone who happens to remember the broadcasts of John Obetz’s “The Auditorium Organ”. Please let me know by return email if my memory is correct that John Obetz used the first movement, Allegro, of Widor’s Organ Symphony No. 6 in G minor, Opus 42-2, as the background music for his introductory remarks to “The Auditorium Organ” broadcasts. It has been 40 years since I heard these broadcasts, and I wonder if my memory of this music is correct. Could someone who is familiar with “The Auditorium Organ” broadcasts, which are no longer being made, please let me know the identity of the background music for Dr. Obetz’s introduction to those broadcasts.
Thank you very much.
Frank
Frank,
The theme music used by John Obetz was Bach’s Fantasy in g, S. 542.
