Celebrating the pipe organ, the King of Instruments |
August 21, 2006
Dear Michael,
I have had no success in obtaining the CD Set from the June 24,1996 program #9626-Manhattan Matinee. In particular is the Fanfare for the Common Man by Copland played by Dorothy Papadakis at Saint John the Divine, New York, NY. I got in touch with her and she was unable to provide any help. Is there any thing you can do to help me in locating this music on CD? Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
All the Best

Dear David,
The selection was part of a set of CDs issued as a co production by Joseph Vitacco and Justin Bischoff in advance of the 1996 centenary convention of the American Guild of Organists in NYC. The album, Great Organs of New York (also referred to as GOONY) has sold out long ago.
I do not know who owns the master tapes, but if you wish to communicate with Vitacco, he can be reached through his JAV Recordings website…http://www.pipeorgancds.com
If Dorothy herself is unable to provide you with satisfaction, you may be out of look in your search for Copland.
Joan Lippincott has been playing the piece in recital, and also recorded it at Saint John the Divine on an out-of-print CD on the Gothic Records label.
Sorry.
