We had hoped this program would be part of the celebration of Messr. Daveluy’s 90th birthday, an anniversary he did not live to see (b. 12/23/26 - d. 9/1/16).

The interview was recorded at his Montreal apartment in October 2011.  Additional excerpts from our conversation with Messr. Daveluy (in English) can be enjoyed here:

  1. Daveluy tells of his father, a musician of remarkably diverse talents, who encouraged his son.
  2. We recount the story of the selection and installation of the Beckerath organ at the Oratory.
  3. Daveluy reflects on the matter (and manner) of his compositions.

Pierre Nadeau of Société Radio-Canada filmed an interview (in French) with Messr. Daveluy in February 1961, shortly after the installation of the Beckerath pipe organ at the Oratoire Saint-Joseph in Montreal:
            Part 1
           Part 2

You also can view an extended master-class featuring Daveluy, filmed at the Church of St. John the Baptist in Montreal.
