In the oil-rich territory of East Texas, an equally rich chapter of American organ history evolved around the installation of several instruments from the famed Aeolian-Skinner Organ Company of Boston. Though Aeolian-Skinner organs can be found throughout the United States, Lorenz Maycher has a fondness for those installed by members of the J. C. Williams family and voiced by Roy Perry (1906-1978), particularly the one that 'started it all', and which Maycher plays weekly, at First Presbyterian Church in Kilgore, TX. That, and other instruments connected to Perry, will be the focus of this program, and an upcoming East Texas Pipe Organ Festival (November 12-15, 2012).

From an early age, Maycher has been beguiled by legendary recordings in the Aeolian-Skinner "King of Instruments" series. These were promotional LPs, issued by the organ builder during the 1950s and 1960s. Maycher is overseeing a gradual restoration of the original KOI analog tapes, reissuing the old KOI albums in CD format through the Vermont Organ Academy.
