Mailbag: “Organ Recital Master List”

Dear Michael,

Are you aware of any resource that lists organ concert series for major organs around the country? Recently Pipedreams has highlighted several different series. When I travel, I attempt to find concerts to attend, but it can be difficult knowing were to begin to look.

I’m really not certain whether there is any single resource that keeps track of organ recitals around the country. Certainly the work to manage such a website would be tremendous, and even if there were such a site that relied on presenters to self-post, you know how well that would work…some would, some would forget, some wouldn’t bother.

Otherwise, if you know where you are headed, travel-wise, it never hurts to check on the American Guild of Organists local chapter websites, as they often list local goings-on. This does require a bit of sleuthing on your part: http://www.agohq.org/regional/index.html
