The organ at St. Mark's was the first instrument that Michael Barone ventured out to record in his early days at Minnesota Public Radio in Collegeville, years before the initiation of PIPEDREAMS. Enjoy its sound from years ago in these archive performances recorded on February 24, 1970 by the late Twin Cities organist Paul Emch. Recording was made using an Ampex analog tape machine (with DMS–Ampria custom electronics) running at 15IPS, no Dolby, using an AKG C–24 coincident stereo microphone.

HANDEL: Organ Concerto in B-Flat, Op. 4, no. 2
     GERRE HANCOCK: Air
JEAN LANGLAIS: Suite Medievale (Prelude, Tiento, Improvisation, Meditation, Acclamations)

You can also further enjoy one of today's soloists, John Scott, in a performance of the Hamburger Totentanz by Guy Bovet, recorded at St. Mark's Cathedral quite a few years ago, as featured in our PIPEDREAMS LIVE! compact disc (CD–1002).
