Celebrating the pipe organ, the King of Instruments
Recordings and recital performances on one of America’s most famous historic concert organs.
Recitalists include Anne and Todd Wilson, recorded in concert on July 9, 1986, Michael Murray on Telarc S-5036 and CD-80049, and Barbara Bruns on AFKA S-4694.
This instrument, built in 1862 by the E.F. Walcker Company of Germany originally for the Boston Music Hall, was later moved to Methuen and installed in the splendid custom-designed home it has enjoyed for nine decades. As reconstituted by Aeolian-Skinner in 1949 and with more recent additions by Andover, this organ remains a feast for eye and ear. For information about ongoing recitals and available recordings visit Methuen Memorial Music Hall.
